*Spike's reply, written in an untidy schoolboyish copperplate, with attendant ink smears and the occasional smudge.*

Dear Alexander,

Hallo mate. I got your letter. It was very good to hear from you and I am glad you aren't grounded anymore. I will be happy to meet your mum any time. What is your god father like?

I have got a god sire, his name is Drakus. He is cranky a lot and sometimes sort of a bully and a brute. But he can be nice when he feels like it.

He has a boy named Corvo. We are mates. You would like him I bet. If your mum says yes maybe you can come visit him with me some time. His world has dragons too but they are bigger and eat only fruit.

Tell your sister her petticote is showing. Spike is not a stupid name it's a good name. I am called Spike because it is a tough name.

Our horses have got sharp hooves and they can bite.

I have asked Bert to write his sire for me about the faerie dragons but I have to hear back from Ryan's mum and Drakus to make sure Corvo and Ryan can have one. This waiting is bollox a bit of a pain.

We are going to my Sire's country house soon. This will be brillient cos I will have lots of space to run about and play properly. It snowed here! Do you have snow?

I am going to make a fort if there is enough snow in Blankshire. And also take Dru skating and have a snowball fight with Ralph and Bert and Murphy.

Murphy is a prizefitter and Angelus says we can set up a fight and I can watch.

That is all my news for now. Tell your mum she can name a place and time and I will meet her any time she likes. Except tonight cos we are going to be on the train.

Sinceerly,

Spike Aurelius.
